McKinney Chapel Window
(Sunset, SC)
This window in historic McKinney Chapel near Sunset, S.C., honors the church's long-time benefactor, Georgia Smith Chapman. The window was installed in May, 2011; the Chapel, which was built in 1891, is located in the Cliffs at Keowee Vineyard development. The window's design is a cross with a white dove in the center and white lilies in the lower corners; it was proposed by Greenville artist Kent Ambler (see www.kentambler.net) and developed with guidance from the Chapel's preservation committee. The glass in the cross is a white/gold/mauve opalescent that matches glass in other windows of the Chapel. The background glass is an iridized textured clear, and the highlight glasses around the cross and dove are translucent. The window is approximately 33" by 58" and done in lead came.
